Ladder System   calendar

CUBC is having it's very first ladder system this 2011-2012 year! The Ladder System is a great way to set in place a system for challenges or competitive fun. Its also a great way to meet other members of the club! Doubles teams are ranked based on their CUBC level and are able to challenge other teams that are close to their levels in order to climb up the ranks. Plus, it costs only $5 per team to join and there'll be prizes too! We will be accepting in-person and online registrations.

Registration

  • Open doubles (any combination of pairs may enter)
  • It costs $5 per team to enter (pay before play)
  • Teams may register in-person or online by downloading one of the forms below and sending it to exec.cubc@gmail.com
  • Teams must consist of members
  • To start off, the teams are ranked according to their levels in CUBC
  • The top 8 teams must show up for the mini-tournament at the end of each ladder term (date tba)
  • The ladder system will run from October to mid December
  • Prizes will be given out to 1st place, 2nd place, biggest mover, and door prizes

The Rules

The following is a summary of the rules. To find out more about the rules in detail, click here to download a copy of the Ladder System Rules and Regulations.

  • Challenges can be made from 2:30-3:00pm only (if time permits, we will have another round of challenges after the first round of ladder matches are completed)
  • Ladder games will commence at 3:00pm to ensure all challenges are completed for that session
  • Ladder games will be on courts 4 & 5
  • Teams can challenge "1up" or "2up" above their ranks. If you challenge "1up" and lose, nothing happens. If you challenge "2up" and lose, you go down one rank. If you win your challenge, you take the place of the opponent while the opponent and teams in between shift down -- so challenge wisely :)
  • Matches will be played in order of highest to lowest ranked teams
  • Teams must accept challenges if they have not yet played two ladder games
  • Teams that challenge cannot retract or change a challenge after it has been submitted
  • Absent teams will be ignored during challenges (ie. if an absent team is above a challenger, the challenger's "1up" and "2up" challenges effectively jump the absent team(s) becoming "2up" and "3up" or "3up" and "4up"). Absent teams risk shifting down if lower ranked teams jump over.
  • There will be a vote to decide whether or not to have a mini tournament on December 4, 2011. if voting results are for "no mini-tournament", the ladder will continue until dec18th.
  • Prizes will be given out to 1st place, 2nd place, biggest mover, and door prizes (you must be present on the last day of the ladder to claim your prize, last day is TBA)
