We are not affilated with any of the organizations below:
Ottawa District Badminton Association(ODBA) -
This website is the most informed website with badminton related events in Ottawa. Most of Ottawa's popular
clubs are here included with links to local, provincial, national and international badminton tournaments
Soong Badminton Academy -
Dominic Soong is an amazing coach and has a lot of badminton presence in Ottawa. Many clubs have some
type of connection to Dominic because he's an amazing person on the personal and professional level.
Most of the badminton greats from Ottawa have trained under Dominic Soong. Carleton U Badminton Club
has introduced Dominic for one day of coaching in the Winter semester. If you're interested in training,
please check out his website.
Carleton U Badminton Intramurals -
I have received a lot of emails requesting for more information about the difference between the Carleton
U badminton club and Carleton U Badminton Intramurals. It's important to understand that the club is run
by student volunteers. There is no profitting being made from it. That is, all membership fees are returned
back to the club members in the form of birdies, gym time, nets, etc. The intramurals is run by the
Carleton U Athletics department. What that means is that I don't know their management policies and gym time
scheduling. For more info, please check out this webpage.
Tournament Video Clips -
Without a doubt my favourite link to check out because there over 50 badminton tournaments on this youTube account.
Please take the time to see the way badminton is played at the highest international level. You'll be so pumped
to play badminton after watching.
Basic Badminton Rules -
For beginners, this website will go over basic rules of the game and even some serving tips. Also, almost all types of
shots possible are covered and described. A very good read for those new to badminton or those with some experience
but would like some more in-depth information.
Tournaments for 2008-2009 season -
This link is aimed more towards the players ranked at Level 5 in the club. It includes links to almost all the tournaments
within the city and surrounding areas (ie. Toronto, etc). These tournaments represent a good chance of seeing how your skills
match up to other clubs and players in the city and province. Some tournaments are more social (such as the OWG Jr. Fundraiser
hosted at Casselman for under 23 years old players on October 11-12, 2008) which are a great chance for Level 4 and below ranked players to get some
friendly, yet challenging experience. Other tournaments such as the Adult Tournament on March 28, 2009 hosted at L'Escale Catholic HS Rockland
are slightly more competetive and everyone of all ages are welcome to compete.
