Combining chemical expertise with knowledge of advanced manufacturing technologies, chemical engineers create new processes, materials, or energy sources to achieve such things as faster silicon chips, better tasting food, cleaner water, improved solid waste treatment, new pharmaceuticals, and longer-lasting batteries.
As a Chemical Engineering graduate, you will find employment opportunities in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, design and construction, electronics, environmental technology, safety and health, food and beverages, fuels, and advanced materials. You may work as a chemical engineer in chemical production, process control, process design, process development, pollution control research and development, computer applications and simulation, waste management, or water treatment. Your career may be research-oriented, in management, or in related areas such as business or industrial safety.
