Communications Engineering
Communications engineers are responsible for the planning, analysis and design, implementation, operation, testing, maintenance and management of communication systems and related distributed information systems.
Graduates in Communications Engineering will be the architects and implementers of new generations of integrated voice, data and image telecommunication systems and ubiquitous personal communications. In the telecommunications industry they will work in research and development, in manufacturing, installation, operational maintenance, marketing, sales and management. In the computer industry they will engineer communications products, distributed computer networks, and multimedia systems, and interface them with telecommunication facilities. Communications engineers will also work for the financial, transportation, hospitality, and defense industries, in government research and development laboratories, in regulatory and licensing agencies, in standards organizations, and in operational departments.
