12th International Conference of   Women Engineers and Scientists

The ICWES12 Conference brings together engineers, scientists, social scientists and students to challenge the world to a new vision of women's roles and contributions in the areas of science, engineering and technology.

The event will bring important issues such as the environment and the impact of technology on women and society to the attention of all participants and the public. The Conference consists of a series of presentations and posters on technical topics and on issues of concern to women engineers and scientists.

The Conference will be held from Saturday, July 27 to Wednesday, July 31, 2002, in the City of Ottawa, in Canada's Capital Region, a premier location to experience the warmth of Canadian culture and hospitality.

It was voted the best city in Canada and the 6th best city in the world. There are more than 900 high-tech companies in Ottawa and the surronding region. The Conference will take place downtown Ottawa at the Ottawa Congress Centre. CANADA'S LANGUAGES Canada has two official languages, English and French. The Conference will be in English. Some plenary events may have simultaneous translation in French. ACCOMMODATION Downtown Ottawa has numerous hotels and suites within walking distance of the Conference's location. Booking information will be included in the registration package. TOURS/PROGRAMS An interesting program is available for accompanying partners and family. To see more of Canada's Capital Region and experience its vivid culture and exciting sights, tours will be offered exploring major tourist attractions and high-tech industries. Tours will also be organized for those who wish to extend their stay in Canada. CHILDREN A daycare centre and special activities will be available if a sufficient number of people indicate a need for these services. The banquet will feature a special menu for children aged 12 and under.
