Introduction to Group Theory (Honours)
Homomorphism theorems; groups acting on sets; permutation groups and groups of matrices; Sylow theory for finite groups; finitely generated abelian groups; generators and relations; applications.Precludes additional credit for MATH 3100 and MATH 3108.
Prerequisite: MATH 2100, or permission of the School.
Lectures three hours a week, tutorial one hour a week.
