Language Contact and Language Spread
This course considers the development and spread of creoles and pidgins, introduces principles of language policy and planning, and analyzes the emergence of New Englishes.
Precludes additional credit for
LALS 4805.
Prerequisites: enrolment in the CTESL program or fourth-year standing and
LALS 1000 (or
LALS 1001 and
LALS 1002) or
FYSM 1206.
Lectures and discussion three hours a week.
