The Caribbean in the Era of Slavery
The development of Caribbean slave societies; the impact of slavery on the region. Key themes include slave resistance and revolt, the slave family, African cultural transfer and transformation, gender relations, and the processes of abolition and emancipation. (Field d)Prerequisite: a 2000-level history course or third-year standing and 1.0 credit in history.
Lectures three hours a week.
