Bioinformatics
This practical interdisciplinary course will provide a broad overview of bioinformatics in which computer science and mathematics are applied to solve problems in molecular biology. Topics include gene prediction, sequence alignment, phylogeny, molecular interactions, macromolecular structure prediction and biological databases. Also listed as BIOC 3008.Precludes additional credit for BIOC 4006.
Prerequisites: BIOC 2200 or BIOL 2200, or permission of the Biochemistry Institute.
Lecture 1.5 hours a week, computer workshop three hours a week.
