A Flutter in Fall...
Joseph Kouvelas

Through parted lips the air escaped,
Into the sky to disperse.
Trees of the tropics encased in glass,
Bright sunshine, a flutter in verse.

Through plastic flaps, their world unfolded,
As the sweat began to fall.
Vision blurred by the sharpened edge of light,
In the sky short and tall.
While high above and down below,
A delicate beauty reveals its sight.

Though small enough, its structure frail,
A thousand words of life to speak.
One touch of a finger,
Takes its life, so delicate and weak.
