Mark Taylor

Mark Taylor is a Ph.D. candidate currently working with Dr. Steven Cooke, at Carleton University (Ottawa, Ontario). Mark’s research is focused on modeling the physiological and behavioural response of bull trout and mountain whitefish to changes in river flow. This involves intensive manual tracking of fish in response to short term fluctuations in discharge from the Revelstoke Dam, B.C. In addition, his project uses electromyogram telemetry to estimate fine scale swimming activity. In general, Mark is interested in all aspects of large river ecology and conservation including: environmental flows; environmental correlates of animal movement; longitudinal data modeling; swimming performance; water quality and quantity; connectivity of headwater streams and non-native invasion biology.
