Caleb T. Hasler

Caleb Hasler is a Ph.D. candidate currently working with Dr. Steven Cooke, at Carleton University (Ottawa, Ontario). The aim of Caleb's research is to study the impacts of hydropower infrastructure and operations on fish habitat quality and associate impacts on organismal condition, behaviour and physiology.

Caleb's work focuses around a regulated river on Vancouver Island and an imperiled stock of Chinook salmon. His work uses a variety of approaches discussed in Dr. Cooke's paper "Conservation Physiology", including telemetry (radio and CEMG), non-lethal physiolgical biopsies, and thermologgers. Caleb also has interest in the use of GIS in biological sciences, as well as the development of new techniques for tracking animals in their environment.
