Alexander Nagrodski

Alexander Nagrodski is a M.Sc. (Biology) candidate currently working under the supervision of Dr. Steven Cooke (Carleton University) and Dr. Cory Suski (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign). Using creek chub, the overall goal of Alexander’s research is to examine the effect of short term cortisol evaluations on ecologically relevant endpoints on wild, free-swimming fish across gradient of stream habit quality. Alexander’s research will explore the relationship between habitat quality and fish responses and responsiveness to stress. Alexander’s project is specifically interested in the following:

    • Compare the survival and physiological response of creek chub inhabiting various habitat types – ranging from disturbed to pristine.
    • Evaluate and compare the spatial ecology (i.e. distance travelled, movement patterns and habitat use) of control and cortisol-treated creek chub using radiotelemetry
