About Nathan and Vero
| Nathan and Véro's unique style of swing dancing combines the technical strengths of Quebec city's dancing with the improvisational Detroit style. Nathan and Véro love to dance fast, be it Balboa, Lindy Hop, or Charleston, and they're bringing all of their swing arsenal to our workshop! |  |
The two dancers have become ambassadors of Collegiate Shag, making it their mission to spread the dance throughout Quebec and the surrounding cities.
Teachers with Port-O-Swing in Quebec city since 2003, Nathan and Véro hold over a dozen top three competition placements between them, including becoming 2005's Vice-Champions in Collegiate Shag at the Canadian Swing Championships. They've taught Lindy Hop, Shag, Balboa and Charleston in various cities and they're eager to spread their love of dance in Ottawa!

Saturday Night Dance
Our Saturday night dance is going to be in a location to be determined soon, with a live band that'll we announce shortly. While that doesn't sound like much, we at least have a great Blues party planned, but you'll have to come to find out!
Venues
Fenn Lounge: Located in Res Commons of Carleton Campus, the lounge is a large open place to hold events and functions at, with two large wood floors. To get there, take the 4 Carleton or 7 Carleton and get off outside of Residence Commons/Glengarry. Walk up the steps and it'll be further in, on the right side.

MAIN CAMPUS FROM THE WEST The main access to Ottawa from the West is via Highways 417 and 7.
* Off Highway 417 East, take the Nicholas/Lees exit.
* Follow Nicholas Street to the first set of lights (Laurier Street)
* Turn right (east) on Laurier Street
* Follow Laurier Street to the third set of lights (King Edward Avenue)
* Turn right (south) on King Edward Avenue
* Follow King Edward Avenue to the second set of lights (Marie Curie Street)
* Turn right (west) on Marie Curie Street to enter the campus.
From there, after finding parking, you'll want to go to the University Centre. The Terminus is located on the 3rd floor, outside the bar "1842". Don't be afraid to ask people. A map of the University is here: http://www.uottawa.ca/map/
151 Chapel St.: The home of the Ottawa Swing Dance Society, and now Swing Dynamite's Saturday Night Swing! Located on Chapel St. at Rideau, this downtown dance studio is a wonderful place to dance, and has been important in helping out the University dance scene in Ottawa.

QSRV Registration!!!
Because we are working with the wonderful Nathan and Véro, the organizers of QSRV, we can take your registration for QSRV at this workshop! If you are planning to go to the Quebec Swing Rendez-Vous (and if not, why not? It’s an amazing weekend!!), you can send in your QSRV payment along with your Gong Show registration.

Once you have signed up online, send in your payment with your Gong Show payment/registration. Make sure to mention that you are signing up with the Gong Show in the comments section.
You get to save the $5 dollar Paypal fee! Make cheques payable to Véronique Pâquet, or if you don’t want to write two cheques, add the $115 to your Gong Show Total, and send that in. Make sure to include that in your cheque memo.
