The Political Economy of Social Welfare
History and theories of welfare. Contemporary issues such as the nature of the labour market, the family, the voluntary sector, and the state as the institutions through which welfare is provided in contemporary society.Prerequisites: Honours standing in the B.S.W. program and SOWK 1000, or permission of the School of Social Work.
Lecture three hours a week.
