Nuclear Physics
Ground state properties of nuclei. Nuclear models, binding energy, properties of excited nuclei. Alpha, beta and gamma decay. Passage of radiation through matter, detectors. Nuclear reactions, cross sections, fission, fusion. Elements of neutron physics.Prerequisites: PHYS 3606 or PHYS 3608 or permission of the Department.
Lectures three hours a week.
