Law in Modern Society
Sociological and legal theory accounts of the changing role and function of law in modern society with particular reference to advanced capitalist societies. Topics include: the welfare state and the use of regulatory law; juridification and legalization; counter-trends, deregulation, informalism, legal pluralism. (Also listed as SOCI 4303.)Prerequisite: one of LAWS 3101, LAWS 3105, LAWS 3105 [1.0] (no longer offered), LAWS 3106, or SOCI 3801.
Seminars three hours a week.
