Criminal Justice System
The institutional and social production of criminal law in Canada. Processes, personnel, and agencies in the criminal legal system. The role of discretion and mechanisms of accountability. The accused and the place of the victim. Issues and problems in sentencing and punishment. Theoretical frameworks.Precludes additional credit for LAWS 2004 [1.0] (no longer offered).
Prerequisites: LAWS 1000.
Lectures three hours a week.
