The Modern Canadian Family
The transformations of family life in Canada since 1800, its varieties, its continuities, its relationship with political and economic institutions, and the changing status of its members. The construction of ideas about families will be discussed to underline the complex dynamic between images and practices. (Field c or e)Prerequisite: a 2000-level history course or third-year standing and 1.0 credit in history.
Lectures three hours a week.
