Welfare & Poverty in Canada
Analysis of the development of the Canadian welfare state. Chronological examination of welfare arrangements in Canada since the beginning of the nineteenth century; comparisons with selected western countries; discussions of the role of different social groups in policy formation. (Field c or e)Prerequisite: a 2000-level history course or third-year standing and 1.0 credit in history.
Lectures three hours a week.
