The Economics of Transition
The transition from state ownership and central planning to mixed ownership structure with resource allocation by market mechanisms. “Classical socialism” is criticized and the processes of transition in countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, and Asia are compared.Precludes additional credit for ECON 3700 (no longer offered), ECON 3701 (no longer offered), and ECON 3702 (no longer offered).
Prerequisite: ECON 1000 or FYSM 1003.
Lectures three hours a week.
