Advanced Applications In Mass Spectrometry
Detailed breakdown of the physical, electrical and chemical operation of mass spectrometers. Examination of the different mass spectrometric geometries / configurations that are currently employed. Applications in mass spectrometry ranging from the analysis of small volatile organic molecules to large non-volatile biological macromolecules. Descriptions of the use of mass spectrometry in industry as well as commercial opportunities in the field.Prerequisites: CHEM 2103 or BIOC 2300, and one of CHEM 2302 or CHEM 2303.
Lectures and seminars three hours a week.
