Introduction to Mobile Communications
Mobile radio channel characterization: signal strength prediction techniques and statistical coverage; fading; delay spread; interference models and outage probabilities. Digital modulation and transmission system performance. Signal processing techniques: diversity and beamforming, adaptive equalization, coding. Applications to TDMA and CDMA cellular systems.Prerequisite: SYSC 5503 (ELG 5503) and SYSC 5504 (ELG 6154) (may be taken concurrently with SYSC 5606).
