The philosophy underlying the Press is to provide important texts at reasonable prices and to keep all books in print as long as possible. There are currently 247 titles in print, with an average of 18 new titles published each year. The Press, wholly owned by Carleton University, became an independent publisher in 1981. The main body of the Press list is made up of the Carleton Library Series which is drawn from the fields of Canadian history, politics, law, economics, sociology, anthropology, geography, science, business, and media studies. Other subjectscovered by our publications include art, international affairs, literature, philosophy, biography, and aboriginal peoples. The Press continues to publish the Public Policy Series, the Women's Experience Series, and General List and Trade List, as well as producing course manuals, journals, and more. The Press has recently developed the Carleton Information Series, the Changing Americas Series, and the Harbinger Poetry Series, and will be forming more new series in areas of interest.
These books are available through both general trade and university bookstores, or by ordering directly from the sources listed.
