Canadian Cinema
Through a close analysis of films from both cultures, this course
should establish the distinctly Canadian modes our cinema has
developed. Special attention will be paid to the similarities
and differences between English Canada and Québec, relating
them both to the economic and political realities of our country,
and to the variety of thematic orderings of Canadian culture that
can be found in the work of writers like Margaret Atwood and
R. Bruce Elder.
Also offered at the undergraduate level, with different requirements,
as 19.328, for which additional credit is precluded.
