16. Appeals and Petitions 16.1 Criteria and Procedures A graduate student may appeal the decision of the university to deny the award of degree or the required withdrawal of the student to the Senate upon certain specific grounds. Such grounds are the allegation by the student that the student has been denied a degree or forced to withdraw because of some mistake, error or improper conduct by the university, its officers or employees. A graduate student may petition the Senate to grant a degree or to stay a decision of required withdrawal on compassionate grounds. Such appeals and petitions must be submitted in writing, within ninety days of receipt by the student of the decision which is to be appealed or petitioned, to the clerk of the Senate, room 607, Administration Building.
