position in technology entrepreneurship

The TIM program
Technology Innovation Management (TIM) is a unique Master's
program for aspiring entrepreneurs on creating wealth at the early stages of company or opportunity life cycles. The program focuses on the launch and growth of technology companies and growth seeking initiatives of existing companies.
The program provides benefits to founders of new companies,
people seeking more senior leadership roles within established companies, and
talented professionals building credentials and expertise for their next move.
The program specializes on research in the
synthesis between engineering technology and management of
engineering processes. Close links are maintained with the
engineering and technology communities. Students do research of
current theoretical and practical significance. The research
results provide useful contributions to the management of
engineering processes in technology based industries.
The TIM program offers both an M.A.Sc. and an M.Eng. degree.
The M.A.Sc. is a thesis based degree; the M.Eng. degree is
project based. The TIM was formerly called Telecommunications
Technology Management (TTM). The program started in the mid 90s
and has been very successful.
A distinctive feature of the TIM program is that all courses
are delivered to in-class and remote students. Remote students
can interact with professors and fellow students using the BigBlueButton web
conferencing system. This system is also available to students
outside class time to collaborate on their assignments and
projects. Courses are scheduled, moreover, to minimize
disruption to your work.

position in technology entrepreneurship
Posted on May 21, 2012
In the fourth TIM Lecture of 2012, you will engage with the faculty, students and professionals working to establish a worldwide leadership position in technology entrepreneurship and commercialization for Canada's Capital Region and the university. The lecture will emphasize the many opportunities for you to contribute to this leadership position.

TIM Council members will provide an overview of the initiatives designed to attain the proof points identified to establish a leadership position in technology entrepreneurship and commercialization.

This is an opportunity for you to help shape the university's and the region's leadership position in technology entrepreneurship and commercialization worldwide.
A report on the outcome of this event will be published on the June issue of the TIM Review.
This lecture will feature a number of speakers associated with the Technology Innovation Management (TIM) program at Carleton University.

The editorial theme of the May 2012 issue of the Technology Innovation Management Review is Technology Entrepreneurship. This is the fourth issue in a series
on this theme. The issue of the TIM Review includes five articles and a report on the third TIM Lecture of 2012. The five articles provide:
a categorization of firms' growth strategies
a tool that entrepreneurs can use to design their organizations so that they deliver desired outcomes
a model to examine deal-making during the investment stage of a new technology firm
insights on how entrepreneurs profit from the exploitation of opportunities that disrupt the status quo
an overview of the 20 articles published in the past four issues of the TIM Review
The report summarizes the third lecture of the 2012 TIM Lecture Series titled "Next-Generation Technology Challenges and Business Opportunities", presented by David Thomas.
Carleton University is the most entrepreneurial university in Canada. We
actively practice entrepreneurship instead of just talking about it. A Carleton
Entrepreneur graduates with a degree and a new company that will create 6 or
more jobs in Canada's Capital Region.
These companies have raised over $1 million
from private and public sources
and are expected to generate more than $1 million in sales this year.
Carleton Entrepreneurs benefit from the many initiatives, academic programs,
and student associations that support entrepreneurship. These include: Lead to Win, Lead
to Win for Women,
Ottawa Young Entrepreneurs, a Bachelor of Commerce and Minor in Entrepreneurship
at the undergraduate level and the Technology Innovation Management program at the
graduate level, the Nicol Internship program, the TIM Review, the TIM Lecture Series,
and others.
The following video highlights the first 17 graduates in the Carleton
Entrepreneurs program:

Small black and white grids of seemingly random squares, QR codes are increasingly adorning newspapers, posters, signs and other everyday products. And if Carleton entrepreneur Michael Ayukawa has his way, we'll soon be seeing a lot more of them.
Cities face tough decisions when trying to encourage economic development, whether it's deciding how best to develop an old stadium site or weighing strategies to encourage new businesses on a declining main street, according to Robert Poole, an entrepreneur and graduate student in the TIM program.
