Writer's Circles

Monday & Thursday -- 6-8 pm -- English Lounge -- 18th Floor Dunton Tower @ Carleton University

In/Words' Writers Circles are about building better writers and building literary community. Twice a week, writers new and seasoned alike meet to share their latest scribbles. Point-form poetry, fractured fiction, plays in dismay -- whatever writers see as possessing potential but in need of others' eyes & edits. Attendees are encouraged to bring 8-10 eco-friendly copies (ie double sided, maximizing page-space) to be shared and poured over by their peers. In addition to editing works-in-process, circles include readings by guest authors (thanks to the cooperation of the English Literary Society), chances to share anything one writer believes other writers should read, and the occasional writing exercise or suggested topic for the following week. Suggested topics on spring and living in the city resulted in the publication of themed chapbooks, giving participants a chance to see their words in print and contribute to literary discourse. Hope to see you at the next circle!
