Congratulations to CSDS Deputy Director Chris Penny on being awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (Military Division) by the Governor General on November 2. Chris, who is a reserve legal officer (Army Lieutenant-Colonel) in the Directorate of International and Operational Law in the Office of the Judge Advocate General, was recognized for his work on the negotiations for the Convention on Cluster Munitions. CSDS, along the Canadian Centre of Intelligence and Security Studies, will be partnering with Canadian Foreign Policy journal on a special issue on "Pakistan and Afghanistan: Canadian, Regional, and International Dimensions," to be published Spring 2011. The Call for Papers is now open. Those whose papers are accepted will be invited to attend a workshop on the topic in Ottawa in late-summer, early-fall 2010. More information can be found here.
