About Ottawa

Canada’s capital city Ottawa and its nearby environs contain a number of tourist attractions, including the Federal Parliament Buildings (www.parl.gc.ca), the National Gallery of Canada (www.gallery.ca), the Canadian Museum of Civilization (www.civilization.ca), the Canada Science and Technology Museum (www.sciencetech.technomuses.ca), and the National Arts Centre (www.nac-cna.ca). The city also has a thriving night life in the downtown area, just below Parliament Hill. For more information, see www.ottawakiosk.com/about.html.

Accommodations

Although we do not have an official conference hotel, in past conferences, attendees have stayed at Arc the Hotel (www.arcthehotel.com, 1-800-699-2516), located at 140 Slater Street in the city’s downtown area. Conference participants who do not wish to stay at a full-service hotel should consider Ottawa’s bed and breakfasts and hostels as more cost-friendly accommodation options. A list of bed and breakfasts can be found at www.bbcanada.com/ontario/ottawa/ottawa and www.ottawakiosk.com/accom_bb2.html. For information about local hostels, visit www.hostelz.com/view.php/Canada_Ontario_Ottawa_Hostels, www.educom.on.ca/ymca-ywca or www.hihostels.ca/hostels/Ontario/OntarioEast/OttawaInternationalHostel/Hostels/index.html.
