INSCAN: International Settlement Canada

Founded in 1987, INSCAN is a national and bilingual quarterly published with the financial support of Citizenship and Immigration Canada. As a forum of information sharing and discussion, it facilitates the work of the Canadian settlement community by covering a wide range of topics related to the settlement, adaptation, and integration of immigrants and refugees in Canada. With contributors from across the country, the periodical is distributed widely to settlement service providers, policy makers, and researchers.

Integration-Net

Funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada and hosted by Carleton University, Integration-Net is a communications, information, and research tool to support the work of the Canadian settlement community. The bilingual Web site has eight major sections: Home, Infocentre, Professional Development, National Initiatives, Regional Highlights, Events, Links, and Share Your Information. Our Centre has been administering the site since its launch in 2000.

Building Capacity for Welcoming Communities

This project draws on existing resources relating to racism and anti-racism in Canada. Under Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Welcoming Communities Initiative, we have compiled a print and online inventory of such resources as they relate to the settlement, adaptation, and integration of newcomers into Canadian communities. The project was implemented in partnership with John Samuel and Associates, Citizens for Public Justice, and the Canadian Ethnocultural Council.

Women Refugees in International Perspectives

The Centre has been exploring the specific needs of refugee women and children since the early 1980s. To date, we have published a two-volume annotated bibliography, Women Refugees in International Perspectives, covering the periods 1980-1990 (first volume) and 1991-1999 (second volume).
