CCISS - The Carleton Advantage

The Carleton Advantage

Carleton University prides itself on its many associations in the surrounding community, in Canada and around the world.  As one of the University’s Research Centres CCISS benefits from distinctive advantages in being based within NPSIA and the University’s location in Ottawa that include the location of Government Departments in the national capital region and the fact that Ottawa is the headquarters of the security and intelligence community.

Officials from across government maintain close contact with scholars and programs at Carleton and NPSIA. Moreover, the University’s faculty in units like NPSIA, Political Science, Sociology and Anthropology, Computer Science and Engineering are recognized nationally and internationally for their teaching, research and public activities in areas related to intelligence and security.

CCISS also benefits from the faculty of NPSIA and research centres housed in the School, including the Centre for Security and Defence Studies (CSDS) and the Canadian Centre for Treaty Compliance (CCTC).

Graduate courses in Intelligence and National Security are offered by NPSIA, under the existing M.A. program in International Affairs.

An innovative join degree program between NPSIA and Civil and Environmental Engineering in Infrastructure Protection and International Security was imitated in September 2010.

NPSIA also collaborates with the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law in a joint M.A./LL.B. program.
