The Canadian Centre of Intelligence and Security Studies (CCISS)

A Carleton University Research Centre dedicated specifically to Intelligence and National Security Studies

The Canadian Centre of Intelligence and Security Studies (CCISS) is a Carleton University Research Centre established in 2002.  CCISS is based in the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) at Carleton University and is a distinct interdisciplinary research centre focusing specifically on Intelligence and Security Studies.

CCISS objective:

  • To support and encourage interdisciplinary research at Carleton University in Intelligence and Security Studies;

  • To organize and host conferences, seminars, workshops and guest lectures on current issues of relevance to Intelligence and Security Studies;

  • To promote the design and delivery of dedicated courses in the field of Intelligence and Security Studies;

  • To host Post-Doctoral Fellows, Visiting Research Fellows, and other researchers in Intelligence and Security Studies; and

  • To support and facilitate professional training and development activities at Carleton University relevant to intelligence and security issues.

Since its founding, CCISS has successfully implemented all of these objectives, including the development of a specific cluster of the NPSIA M.A. program on Intelligence and National Security, promoting research, organizing conferences, workshops and seminars, and undertaking policy studies.
